Terms of Service

By downloading, accessing, creating an account for, purchasing, or using Bento, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Bento or its cloud services.

Bento is operated by JIN HANGBIN, an individual developer based in China, with a contact address at Room 2504, Zhongtian Junfu East Zone, Qingshanhu Subdistrict, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. “Bento,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to JIN HANGBIN and the Bento product and services available through the Bento app and bentostudio.net. “You” refers to the person or organization using them.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement. If you use Bento for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization.

Bento is a local-first macOS video editor with optional account, hosted AI, agent, transcription, media-analysis, and subscription features. Local projects, timelines, imports, and exports remain on your device unless you choose a feature that needs cloud processing.

Bento is a digital, intangible software service. Where a paid plan is offered, access is provided after payment is confirmed. Features, models, providers, availability, limits, and supported formats may change as the service develops. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue a feature when reasonably necessary to operate, secure, or improve Bento.

Some hosted features depend on third-party infrastructure and AI model providers. Their availability can affect Bento, and the provider used may vary by model or feature. The applicable provider will be identified in the product where reasonably practicable.

Bento provides a multi-model generation workflow. The current image-generation catalog includes Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2, Flux 2 Pro, and Seedream 5.0 Lite. The current video-generation catalog includes Seedance 2.0, Seedance 2.0 Mini, HappyHorse 1.1, Gemini Omni Video, Veo 3.1 Fast, Kling 3.0, and Grok Imagine.

Model availability depends on plan, location, upstream availability, safety review, and product stage. A model listed here may be temporarily unavailable and does not imply that Bento is endorsed by or affiliated with its provider. The model name is shown in Bento’s generation interface so you can identify the model selected for a request.

You may use the local editor without an account where Bento makes that available. An account is required for Bento Cloud features, Credits, and paid plans. Keep your account and billing email information accurate, do not share your sign-in credentials, and protect the sign-in method you use.

You are responsible for activity under your account and must promptly email founders@bentostudio.net if you believe it has been accessed without authorization.

You retain ownership of the media, projects, prompts, transcripts, edits, and other content you create or import into Bento. You grant Bento a limited, non-exclusive license to process the inputs you select for a cloud feature only to provide, secure, and support that feature.

When you choose a hosted generation, agent, transcription, or media-analysis feature, Bento may transmit the prompts, selected reference material, audio, video, transcript, or project context needed for that request to our cloud infrastructure and the relevant model provider. Do not submit content unless you have the rights, permissions, and any required consents to do so.

As between you and Bento, and to the extent permitted by applicable law and any applicable third-party model terms, you own the output generated for you. We do not use your inputs to train Bento models without your express consent.

Generated output can be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, unavailable, or subject to third-party rights. You are responsible for reviewing output and for your use, publication, and distribution of both source material and generated output.

You must follow Bento’s Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these terms. It applies to prompts, reference files, generated images, generated video, audio, text, and other content submitted to or produced through Bento.

The policy expressly prohibits pornography and NSFW content, violence and graphic gore, hate speech, child-unsafe content and CSAM, non-consensual deepfakes or impersonation, and copyright or trademark infringement. It also explains Bento’s moderation approach, reporting channel, enforcement actions, and appeal process.

You may not systematically scrape or harvest outputs, use Bento inputs or outputs to train or benchmark a competing AI or machine-learning service, bypass safety or usage limits, probe or interfere with the service, access another person’s account or data without authorization, or resell, sublicense, white-label, or provide access to Bento as a service without our written permission.

Credits are an internal measure for Bento-hosted cloud features. They are not money, have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and do not apply to local editing or requests made with your own API key. Plan prices, included Credits, refresh timing, and usage limits will be shown in Bento and at checkout before you pay.

Yearly plans are billed upfront while included Credits refresh monthly. Unused monthly plan Credits do not carry forward unless Bento expressly says otherwise. Prices and applicable taxes will be displayed at checkout.

When paid subscriptions become available, payments will be processed by Waffo Pancake, our checkout and merchant-of-record provider. By selecting a paid plan and submitting payment, you expressly authorize Bento and Waffo Pancake to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring monthly or yearly basis, at the price and interval shown at checkout, until you cancel.

You may cancel online at any time through the Waffo Pancake customer portal linked from your purchase confirmation or receipt, and through Bento’s subscription-management controls where available. You may also ask for help at founders@bentostudio.net. Cancellation stops the next renewal. Your paid access and current-cycle Credits remain available until the end of the paid billing period unless the payment is reversed, refunded, fraudulent, or otherwise invalid.

Because paid access and digital services are delivered immediately, fees are generally non-refundable. However, you may request a full refund of your first subscription charge within 7 days if no more than 10% of the included cloud quota or Credits has been used. We will also refund verified duplicate charges and preserve any refund or withdrawal right required by applicable law. For a verified continuous service outage lasting at least 72 hours, we may provide a prorated credit or refund.

Used Credits, completed cloud requests, and partially used subscription periods are not refundable except as stated above or required by law. Annual subscription refund requests made more than 30 days after the initial purchase are not eligible except where applicable law requires otherwise.

To request a refund or report a billing error, email founders@bentostudio.net with your account email, transaction ID, and reason before opening a bank dispute where reasonably possible. We aim to acknowledge requests within 2 business days and process eligible refunds within 5–10 business days. Refunds and payment disputes may also be administered by Waffo Pancake as merchant of record, and the refund policy displayed at checkout also applies.

Bento, including its software, design, name, and service components, is protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app and services for their intended purpose.

Do not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from Bento except where applicable law permits that activity despite this restriction.

We may suspend or limit access to Bento Cloud when reasonably necessary to prevent abuse or fraud, protect users or providers, comply with law, or address a material breach of these terms. You may stop using Bento at any time and may request account deletion by emailing founders@bentostudio.net.

If we terminate a prepaid plan for reasons other than your breach, fraud, payment failure, or a legal requirement, we will provide a prorated refund for the unused prepaid period. Ending cloud access or deleting an account does not delete local projects from your device. Account and billing records may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bento is provided “as is” and “as available,” without express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, or accuracy. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available at a particular time.

AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated and is not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Verify important output with an appropriately qualified professional before acting on it.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bento is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity. Bento’s total liability arising from the service will not exceed the amount you paid for Bento during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

These terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these terms limits any mandatory consumer protection that applies where you live.

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a dispute informally. If it cannot be resolved, it may be submitted to a court with competent jurisdiction at the operator’s domicile in China, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

We may update these terms as Bento evolves. We will provide at least 14 days’ advance notice of material changes by email, in-app notice, or a prominent website notice unless an earlier change is required by law or urgent security needs. We will update the “Last updated” date and version on this page.
